This week we’ve talked about some foods that are very unhealthy for you. Often we don’t know about the amount of calories and chemicals that are in these foods.
To end off the week, I thought it would be fitting to remind us why eating healthy is important:
1. Eat righting and weight control
When you engage in healthy eating, you learn to eat well-balanced meals. Two or three weeks of a healthy diet and you will notice huge changes in your body, both internal and external. Eating healthy can also help increase your metabolism and clear your bodyof toxic substances.
2. Lower your blood pressure
Things like alcohol, fast food, caffeine (found in coffee, pops and tea), and sodium (found in most packaged and canned food, etc.), can lead to high blood pressure and this becoming a common problem for many. It puts you at a higher risk for diabetes, heart disease, stroke, obesity, etc. You can alleviate this by including more fruit, vegetables and low-fat dairy products like milk or yogurt into your diet.
3. Decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer
Some saturated fats found in meat, butter and coconut oil increase your risk of heart disease and other issues. 2 major contributors are trans fats, which are found in fast foods and other packaged foods and sodium from a high intake of salt and some packaged foods. Certain cancers, especially those affecting the mouth, throat, stomach and bowel can be prevented if you eat healthy.
4. Improve your quality of life
Eating healthy has an overall effect on improving your general well-being. It will improve your skin, metabolism, etc. You may achieve your ideal weight according to your height, etc., which will give you more stamina and an increased libido. You will sleep better, concentrate better and have higher levels of productivity. You will also find that you are better equipped to handle stress. You will look good and feel great and you will have the energy and confidence to get through day to day stuff.
Eating healthy is not hard. It’s a conscious choice you make for your life and knowing what’s good for you.
